As the Philadelphia Phillies search for creative ways to upgrade their roster, one name that has been mentioned in trade talks is Alec Bohm.<\/p>\n
Bohm has an attractive contract,\u00a0 and teams looking for a low-priced offensive upgrade could be looking to add his bat.<\/p>\n
Many Phillies fans believe the team needs to shake up its offense, but it appears team President Dave Dombrowski wants to add to his pitching staff, targeting White Sox lefty Garrett Crochet.<\/p>\n
According to USA Today MLB reporter Bob Nightengale, the Phillies offer of Bohm, along with outfield prospect Justin Crawford was declined in exchange for Crochet.<\/p>\n
Some would ask, why do the Phillies need to add to a pitching staff that features Zack Wheeler,\u00a0 Aaron Nola, Christopher Sanchez, and Ranger Su\u00e1rez with top prospect Andrew Painter waiting in the wings.<\/p>\n
However, Crochet is a young, top-of-the-rotation type of pitcher and would allow the team to try and move a pitcher like Su\u00e1rez to add offense.<\/p>\n
If the team moves Bohm, they would need to add a third baseman to replace him.\u00a0 One name that has been mentioned is Astros third baseman Alex Bregman, which was reported last week by MLB Network reporter Jon Morosi.<\/p>\n
