Rafael Devers has become a focal point for MLB fans, especially after his surprising trade from the Boston Red Sox to the San Francisco Giants last June. Following a strong half-season, Devers is poised to be a key player as the Giants aim to break their playoff drought.<\/p>\n

However, a recent development has fans holding their breath. Devers was pulled from Saturday’s spring training game due to a left hamstring issue.<\/p>\n

According to Justice De Los Santos of the San Jose Mercury News, the Giants are taking a cautious approach, keeping Devers out of action for the next few days. Despite this setback, he’s still expected to be ready for Opening Day unless further complications arise.<\/p>\n

Maria Cuadrado of MLB.com reported that Devers experienced discomfort during pregame warm-ups, prompting the Giants to scratch him from the lineup as a precaution. As of now, Devers is sidelined for 2-4 days, missing the Cactus League game against the Padres. Bryce Elridge, a promising rookie prospect, is on standby to fill in if Devers isn’t ready in time.<\/p>\n

In other Giants news, outfielder Harrison Bader exited a spring training game early due to a right thumb contusion. Manager Tony Vitello noted that they’ve been monitoring Bader’s condition, and despite Bader’s eagerness to play, the team decided to rest him for a few days to prevent further injury. Bader, who joined the Giants on a two-year, $20.5 million deal after a stellar 2025 season, will also be representing Team Israel in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Joe Ryan, a starting pitcher for Team USA in the WBC, is dealing with lower back inflammation. The Minnesota Twins have scratched him from his initial spring training start, but there’s hope he can join the WBC if Team USA advances past the pool stage.<\/p>\n

Ryan Yarbrough will replace him on the roster for now. Ryan’s progress is promising, as he recently completed a bullpen session and is expected to face live batting practice soon.<\/p>\n

If all goes well, he might make his WBC debut in the semifinals on March 15 in Miami.<\/p>\n
