The Boston Red Sox are taking a calculated gamble on former top prospect Brendan Rodgers this offseason. After a challenging year with the Houston Astros where injuries limited him to fewer than 45 games, Rodgers is looking for a fresh start. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his potential playing time, the Red Sox’s decision to invite him to Major League Spring Training on a minor league deal is a low-risk move with possible high rewards.<\/p>\n

Once a promising infielder, Rodgers was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, showing significant potential during his early days with the Colorado Rockies. His high school career was nothing short of stellar, marking him as one of the top players in the nation. However, injuries and inconsistent offensive production have since stalled his progress.<\/p>\n

For Boston, this signing is a savvy move. It doesn\u2019t burden them financially but provides a potential boost in infield depth should Rodgers regain his past form.
