The Chicago Cubs are in an intriguing position with their young outfield prospect, Kevin Alc\u00e1ntara. With an additional option year now secured, the team has the flexibility to let him continue refining his skills at Triple-A Iowa. However, there’s also a chance he could make the Opening Day roster.<\/p>\n

Alc\u00e1ntara is in the mix for the role of fourth outfielder, competing with Justin Dean, Chas McCormick, and Dylan Carlson. While McCormick or Carlson might have the edge, the Cubs’ plans could shift as spring training unfolds and the Cactus League games begin. Alc\u00e1ntara has been making a strong impression since his brief stint with the team last season, both on and off the field.<\/p>\n
