The Miami Dolphins started what could be the beginning of a fire sale by releasing Bradley Chubb and Tyreek Hill on Monday morning. There could be additional moves, but even if the Dolphins stop at these two moves, the New Orleans Saints should jump at the chance to scoop up Bradley Chubb.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

The Saints have plenty of needs and edge rusher is near the top of that list. Bringing Chubb to New Orleans would give the Saints the complement they need for Chase Young. It would also give the Saints two former top five overall selections at edge rusher. The ceiling would jump significantly in the room.<\/p>\n

The biggest question for Chubb is the price. His contract would have paid him $20 million this year. He wasn’t getting that from the Dolphins and he won’t get it from the Saints either. The question is, though, what is the new market for Chubb as a free agent?<\/p>\n

Injuries may scare the Saints away from Bradley Chubb<\/h2>\n

Brandon Staley and Chubb have a little bit of history as well. While brief, it could be enough to entice the edge rusher to come to New Orleans. Staley was the Denver Broncos outside linebackers coach in 2019. It was just one season, and Chubb barely played that year. Chubb suffered an injury four games into the season that ended his year. Unfortunately, that’s been a bit of a trend for the edge rusher.<\/p>\n

Chubb is productive when he’s on the field, but staying on the field has been the issue. He alternated between a healthy season and playing less than half of the season for the first five years of his career. In those full seasons, Chubb was a Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate and a two time Pro Bowler.<\/p>\n

In 2022 and 2023, Chubb put together his first consecutive healthy seasons in Miami. He had the best season of his career, with 11 sacks and a league-leading 6 forced fumbles. Then, Chubb suffered a torn ACL that kept him out the entire 2024 campaign.<\/p>\n

While Chubb did bounce back from the injury well in 2025, the injury history is clearly there. It’s a concern that could limit his financial ceiling. While his 8.5 sacks is appealing, you have to wonder if the risks are worth the possible returns.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, it all comes down to what the contract looks like. A lesser contract makes the injury history easier to swallow because the investment isn’t high. Regardless, Chubb is a name to watch, and the Saints don’t have to wait until free agency to pursue him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
