<\/p>\nThe American League East is already the most competitive and talented division in all of baseball. This offseason, the division is set to add a lot more talent as the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Toronto Blue Jays are all looking to aggressively buy.<\/p>\n

Each of these four teams could add multiple superstars this winter as they all look to form World Series contending teams. There are big moves to be made for each team.<\/p>\n
David Schoenfield and Kiley McDaniel of ESPN each expect an AL East team to trade for Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet.<\/p>\n
The lefty is projected to sign a six-year, $130 million deal when he hits free agency, per Spotrac. Schoenfield predicts Crochet to land with the Orioles while McDaniels leans for the Red Sox.<\/p>\n
“White Sox general manager Chris Getz is reportedly prioritizing position players over pitching prospects in a potential Crochet trade, and perhaps only the Red Sox can match Baltimore’s depth in that category,” Schoenfield wrote. “While the Orioles could spend on a big-ticket starting pitcher in free agency, but that hasn’t been GM Mike Elias’ preferred method of building a rotation.”<\/p>\n
Baltimore is set to lose Corbin Burnes to free agency and it’s not a franchise known for paying up to acquire stars. The Orioles have the prospect capital to make a deal happen as well.<\/p>\n
“The Red Sox need to add another frontline arm to continue their climb back into playoff contention and Crochet fits their current payroll structure better than a free agent option,” McDaniel wrote.<\/p>\n
“The cost will be steep in prospects, though, as Crochet has two years of control at under $10 million total despite being one of the better pitchers in baseball after a breakout 2024 campaign.”<\/p>\n
Boston certainly has the position player prospects that Chicago would want. I think that the Red Sox will target Max Fried in free agency as their top option, but if he signs elsewhere, they could quickly pivot to Crochet as a backup.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
