The Buffalo Bills are starting a new era as they are going with Joe Brady at head coach. After firing Sean McDermott two days after the team\u2019s divisional round loss against the Broncos, Terry Pegula decided to make the change and now Buffalo is moving forward with Brady.<\/p>\n
Brady has a big task to take this team farther than McDermott did. For as much success McDermott had with the Bills, he was never able to reach the Super Bowl. Despite eight playoff appearances that included two conference title games, and five consecutive division championships, the Bills just couldn\u2019t get over the hump with McDermott. Now, it\u2019s Brady\u2019s turn to get it done.<\/p>\n
While it\u2019s Brady\u2019s job to get his players ready for the games, the general manager and new President of Football Operations, Brandon Beane, has to work on this roster and build it up to the best of his ability to set Brady up for success.<\/p>\n
The Bills have had issues with the cap space in recent memory, but it\u2019s because they have taken chance after chance at trying to develop and bring in immediate help from outside the building.<\/p>\n
According to Over The Cap, the Bills currently have -$13.96 million in cap space so they need to do some work if they want to add to the team. The good news is that they can easily create over $50 million in cap space without releasing anyone.<\/p>\n
Bills can create tons of cap space through contract restructures<\/p>\n
There are five players that the Bills could restructure the contracts of to open up over $50 million of cap space, which would be excellent going into free agency.<\/p>\n
Here are the players and how much money would be saved with restructures, per Over The Cap:<\/p>\n
QB Josh Allen \u2013 saves $12.56 million<\/p>\n
OL Spencer Brown \u2013 saves $10.62 million<\/p>\n
OL Dion Dawkins \u2013 saves $11.37 million<\/p>\n
DT Ed Oliver \u2013 saves $8.88 million<\/p>\n
TE Dawson Knox \u2013 saves $6.9 million<\/p>\n
Add all of those numbers up and the Bills would be able to create over $50 million in cap space, which would give them lots of room to improve this roster. Perhaps bring in a true No. 1 wide receiver\u2026<\/p>\n
With Beane getting the promotion that he got the same day McDermott was fired, it\u2019s time for him to really show up and show the fans that he was the right person to keep in the building. We have seen Beane make great financial moves before, and now it\u2019s time for him to do it again.<\/p>\n
