All is fair when it comes to the\u00a0NFL, on Thursday, January 29,\u00a0Dan Campbell and the Lions\u00a0picked up a former\u00a0Chicago Bears\u00a0player and ripped him out of Ben Johnson\u2019s clutches.<\/p>\n

No, the Detroit Lions didn\u2019t pull someone like\u00a0Caleb Williams\u00a0from the Bears\u2019 roster. But, it\u2019s interesting to see Campbell and the Detroit Lions making moves like this so early in the offseason.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s worth noting, of course, that the Lions ended their 2025-26 season with a\u00a0win over the Bears\u00a0on the road. That game took place on January 4, with a\u00a019-16 final score.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll right, good win by the guys. Proud of them. That\u2019s the way to finish,\u201d Campbell told reporters after the game. \u201cI really didn\u2019t expect anything different out of them just knowing the guys that we had I tell you what. But, nonetheless I\u2019m still proud of them because it\u2019s not always the easiest thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cYou get eliminated and it\u2019s hard for some guys. You\u2019re back out in the elements and with a team that\u2019s already clinched. But our guys fought, man, from the beginning even when they came back, we were up two scores, they came back, our guys didn\u2019t bat an eye and we were able to finish it out. Really one of the best games we\u2019ve played as far as complementary football. That\u2019s really what. A lot of really good performances by a lot of guys.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Thursday, January 29, the Detroit Lions officially signed former Chicago Bears tight end\u00a0Thomas Gordon\u00a0to a reserve\/future contract. They\u00a0officially announced the news on social media.<\/p>\n
Gordon spent his rookie year in 2025-26 with the Chicago Bears. He inked with the team in August 2025 but didn\u2019t\u00a0make their 53-man roster. So, he signed to the practice squad in December and wasn\u2019t signed by Chicago to a futures deal after the season ended.<\/p>\n
Before joining the Bears, Gordon was on the UFL\u2019s San Antonio Brahmas\u2019 team. But, he only appeared in one game for them and didn\u2019t have any statistics from that game.<\/p>\n
So, this move adds some depth to the tight end position. Even though it\u2019s not groundbreaking, it\u2019s true that the Lions might get some tidbits from Gordon\u2019s time with the Bears that could be beneficial.<\/p>\n
On Monday, January 26,\u00a0the Detroit Lions announced\u00a0that quarterback\u00a0Jared Goff\u00a0will appear at the 2026 Pro Bowl Games, replacing\u00a0Sam Darnold.<\/p>\n
\u201cDarnold gets to prepare and Goff gets the pro bowl. Nice win for both,\u201d\u00a0one more added, referring to Darnold getting ready for the big game, as the\u00a0Seattle Seahawks\u00a0take on the\u00a0New England Patriots.<\/p>\n
Goff is certainly familiar with the Pro Bowl. This will mark his fifth trip there.\u00a0Matthew Stafford\u00a0of the\u00a0Los Angeles Rams\u00a0and\u00a0Dak Prescott\u00a0of the\u00a0Dallas Cowboys were the other quarterbacks initially selected for the Pro Bowl from the NFC.<\/p>\n
