Despite a devastating diagnosis, Dotson remains focused on her journey, determined to inspire others and continue living life to its fullest. She recently sat down with <strong data-start=\"497\" data-end=\"507\">KCTV5+<\/strong> to share her personal story, opening up about her health struggles, the support she\u2019s received from her family and friends, and the message of hope she continues to carry with her every day.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"700\" data-end=\"1271\"><strong data-start=\"700\" data-end=\"737\">A Dream Come True with the Chiefs<\/strong><br data-start=\"737\" data-end=\"740\" \/>Dotson\u2019s time as a <strong data-start=\"759\" data-end=\"781\">Chiefs Cheerleader<\/strong> was, in her own words, \u201c<strong data-start=\"806\" data-end=\"827\">a dream come true<\/strong>.\u201d She joined the <strong data-start=\"845\" data-end=\"886\">Kansas City Chiefs cheerleading squad<\/strong> in 2013 and spent three incredible seasons with the team until 2015. The experience allowed her to not only perform at the iconic <strong data-start=\"1017\" data-end=\"1038\">Arrowhead Stadium<\/strong> but also to become part of a <strong data-start=\"1068\" data-end=\"1092\">tight-knit community<\/strong> of cheerleaders and Chiefs fans. \u201cIt was a dream come true,\u201d she reminisced. &#8220;Being on the field with the team and representing the Chiefs was one of the best times of my life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1273\" data-end=\"1646\">Even after her time as a cheerleader ended, Dotson remained a proud member of the Chiefs family. That connection has remained strong, particularly as she now faces the challenge of her life. Despite no longer being on the field, the <strong data-start=\"1506\" data-end=\"1530\">love and camaraderie<\/strong> she shared with her cheer sisters continue to provide her with <strong data-start=\"1594\" data-end=\"1605\">comfort<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1610\" data-end=\"1622\">strength<\/strong> in this difficult time.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1648\" data-end=\"2027\"><strong data-start=\"1648\" data-end=\"1681\">The Battle with Cancer Begins<\/strong><br data-start=\"1681\" data-end=\"1684\" \/>In <strong data-start=\"1687\" data-end=\"1704\">November 2024<\/strong>, Sabrina was diagnosed with <strong data-start=\"1733\" data-end=\"1761\">metastatic breast cancer<\/strong>, a form of cancer that had already spread to her <strong data-start=\"1811\" data-end=\"1820\">liver<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1825\" data-end=\"1834\">bones<\/strong> by the time it was detected. &#8220;By the time we found that I had breast cancer, it had already spread to my liver and my bones,&#8221; Dotson shared, her voice reflecting the gravity of the situation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1648\" data-end=\"2027\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cloudfront-us-east-1.images.arcpublishing.com\/gray\/QA4KYGUGFRCGTCSK3CEVYE6III.jpg\" alt=\"There is still hope.' Chiefs' Cheer Alumni stays positive amid stage 4  cancer diagnosis\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2029\" data-end=\"2447\">However, Dotson hasn\u2019t allowed her diagnosis to define her. She remains <strong data-start=\"2101\" data-end=\"2115\">determined<\/strong> to keep pushing forward, finding strength in the love and support of her family and community. &#8220;There were moments when I felt overwhelmed,&#8221; she admitted. &#8220;But my family, friends, and even my Chiefs family have been such a huge part of my strength. They have been by my side every step of the way, and that\u2019s what keeps me going.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2449\" data-end=\"2781\">Despite the odds, Dotson\u2019s focus remains on living each day with a positive outlook, emphasizing the importance of <strong data-start=\"2564\" data-end=\"2572\">hope<\/strong> in her fight against the disease. \u201cEven though the diagnosis was difficult, I know I\u2019m not alone,\u201d she said. \u201cThere is still hope. Every day is a chance to fight and make a difference. And I\u2019m not giving up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2783\" data-end=\"3166\"><strong data-start=\"2783\" data-end=\"2853\">Incredible Support from Family, Friends, and Chiefs\u2019 Cheer Sisters<\/strong><br data-start=\"2853\" data-end=\"2856\" \/>One of the things that has helped Dotson the most in her battle is the <strong data-start=\"2927\" data-end=\"2952\">strong support system<\/strong> she has built over the years. Her <strong data-start=\"2987\" data-end=\"2998\">husband<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"3003\" data-end=\"3025\">two young children<\/strong> have been her constant sources of encouragement, helping her navigate the physical and emotional challenges that come with fighting cancer.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3168\" data-end=\"3409\">&#8220;It would be really difficult to go on this journey without them,&#8221; Dotson said, reflecting on the deep connection she shares with her family. &#8220;Their support means everything to me. They are the reason I continue to fight each and every day.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3411\" data-end=\"3875\">In addition to her immediate family, Dotson has been overwhelmed by the support from her <strong data-start=\"3500\" data-end=\"3531\">Chiefs Cheerleading sisters<\/strong> and the entire <strong data-start=\"3547\" data-end=\"3572\">Kansas City community<\/strong>. This moment marked a major milestone for Dotson, as she had the chance to stand on the field again, not as a cheerleader, but as someone who has overcome adversity and continues to thrive.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4307\" data-end=\"4675\">\u201cIt was such an indescribable moment being on the field for their field rehearsal, but then also for the Crucial Catch, the actual game,\u201d Dotson recalled. &#8220;To be there as a <strong data-start=\"4480\" data-end=\"4509\">former Chiefs Cheerleader<\/strong> and as <strong data-start=\"4517\" data-end=\"4561\">Sabrina Dotson, a current cancer thriver<\/strong>, was such a special experience. It felt like coming full circle, and I was so honored to be part of that moment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4677\" data-end=\"4952\">For Dotson, the opportunity to be back on the field at <strong data-start=\"4732\" data-end=\"4753\">Arrowhead Stadium<\/strong> while fighting cancer was a reminder of her strength and resilience. &#8220;It was a surreal experience,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Seeing the team play and being part of that energy again was such an uplifting moment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4954\" data-end=\"5245\"><strong data-start=\"4954\" data-end=\"4984\">A Powerful Message of Hope<\/strong><br data-start=\"4984\" data-end=\"4987\" \/>Sabrina Dotson has an important message for those facing similar battles: \u201cIf you are someone who is diagnosed stage 4 like me, there is still hope,\u201d she said firmly. &#8220;There\u2019s still research to be done, and there\u2019s still progress being made.
