According to Aram Leighton, the club has agreed to a minor-league pact with Jose Devers, the cousin of Boston Red Sox All-Star third baseman Rafael Devers.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, Jose Devers isn\u2019t on the same trajectory as his cousin, at least not yet. At 24 years old, he\u2019s appeared in just 24 MLB games, boasting a .244 average, no home runs, and a .611 OPS. He also hit .244 with a .676 OPS over 64 games this year across three levels, primarily for AAA Jacksonville.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not likely Devers will ever make a significant impact for the team in Atlanta; however, he can play both second base and shortstop, which should give him an outside chance at appearing for the Braves at some point. As currently constructed, Orlando Arcia is the starting shortstop, and if the Braves don\u2019t add anybody, it will be an open competition for the utility infield spot off the bench.
