\ud83d\udea8 DAK PRESCOTT REFLECTS ON COWBOYS’ SEASON FINALE LOSS AND LOOKS AHEAD TO 2026<\/strong> The Dallas Cowboys closed out their 2025 season with a 34-17 loss<\/strong> to the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. While the game held little consequence in terms of playoff positioning, it still provided an opportunity for quarterback Dak Prescott<\/strong> to reflect on the season and his performance. Prescott, who played only the first half of the game, completed 7 of 11 passes for 70 yards. Here\u2019s everything Prescott had to say in his post-game interview, covering the frustrations of the season, the future, and his thoughts on the team’s progress.<\/p>\n

On the Season’s Frustration<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Cowboys<\/p>\n

“Obviously, this is not the ending you would want, not so much today, but overall. How can you sum up your season overall?” Prescott was asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cTough, tough season. Frustrating in the sense … I can\u2019t directly correlate my play to the wins or losses, end of the season, overall success of the season. So that makes it frustrating. One of the best offenses in the league, explosive. Not always to our standard, didn\u2019t play like that every week, week in and week out. But put up a lot of points. Unfortunately, just didn\u2019t win the one-score games that we should have. Didn\u2019t finish out some of those close games on our end. Ultimately just [a 7-9-1] record. It sucks, but it\u2019s the reality. A lot of good in the season. But it\u2019s not the destination, not the end goal, not where we wanted to be. But thankful for the experience. Thankful for the men in the locker room who gave their all. Coaches each and every week. I don\u2019t think effort or lack of focus or intensity was ever our problem. Appreciate everyone giving it their all, leaving it all out there.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Discussing the Future with Jerry Jones<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prescott knows the offseason is the time for big decisions and improvements, especially after a season that fell short of expectations. When asked about the possibility of talking with owner Jerry Jones<\/strong> and discussing the future, Prescott responded:<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I mean, as it comes up. To be blunt, there\u2019s going to be conversations. I\u2019m sure they\u2019re going to reach out. There\u2019s going to be other topics where I go to them first, right? There will be a lot of communication. I know Schotty [head coach Brian Schottenheimer<\/strong>] said at the end of it, now we have the time. Not only do your evaluations, but from there you decide how you are going to move forward, what pieces stay the same, what team you\u2019re going to put together for next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the Loss and Not Knowing When He\u2019d Exit the Game<\/strong><\/p>\n

The game didn\u2019t go as planned for Prescott, especially when he was pulled in the second half. Prescott was asked if he knew he was coming out of the game before it happened and whether that affected the offense\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I didn\u2019t necessarily know when I was coming out. To me, it was just play the game, play the game to win. Gave it my best when I was in there. Didn\u2019t convert on the fourth-down try right there in the red zone, which would have led to points. I feel would have made a huge difference in this game. That sucks. But yeah, I mean, the plan for me coming out wasn\u2019t necessarily defined. So yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the Bad Taste Left by the Season’s End<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, it\u2019s frustrating. Tired of it? I\u2019ve got to deal with it. Sure, tired, right? But it\u2019s up to me to control. That\u2019s why I said this year is as frustrating as anything. There\u2019s a number of times being up here talking to you guys saying I need to fix this, get better at this, to have a season where it wasn\u2019t on my play. I can\u2019t say I should have fixed that or I should have fixed that. I take accountability, don\u2019t get me wrong, in so many ways. The leader I am, I\u2019m frustrated, always trying to figure out what could I have done better, whether it was conversations here, talking to this guy there, whatever it may be. I still put some of it on myself. Unfortunately, we just didn\u2019t get it done. Yeah, I\u2019m tired of it, sick of it. It won\u2019t change the way I approach this offseason, the way I lead, me just giving this game everything I\u2019ve got to try to change it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Dak<\/p>\n

On Turning the Page to 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

When asked when his thoughts would turn to next season, Prescott\u2019s answer was clear and immediate:<\/p>\n

\u201cFive minutes ago. Now.\u201d<\/p>\n

And while the loss stung, Prescott expressed his desire to get back to work quickly:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis game is who I am. Don\u2019t get me wrong. This game, the happiness, the peace, the joy. I\u2019m as disappointed in this thing, it\u2019s ending. As much as I put into this game, yeah, I mean, as much as you put into your teammates, into the culture, just sucks when it ends in whatever form and fashion. There\u2019s only one team that\u2019s ever happy at the end of the season. Yeah, I mean, I\u2019ve turned the page. Turning the page now. Honestly, my thoughts are literally may take a week off of not weighing myself, who cares what I eat, just doing that. It won\u2019t be too long after that we\u2019re completely back dialed in. I know I said I felt like this season sucks for me individually because of the process I took with the injury, how early I started in the offseason. Just going into this one will be intentional a lot earlier, focus on next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the End of His Personal Winning Streak Against the Giants<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prescott was also asked about his personal success against the Giants, having held a long winning streak against them prior to this game. His response, though tinged with frustration, reflected his competitive nature:<\/p>\n

\u201cA little selfishly pissed. But that\u2019s completely selfish. In another way, it\u2019s kind of good you can go into next year, it\u2019s not even a conversation, not even being brought up. This isn\u2019t about me. This isn\u2019t about my win streak. That\u2019s the good in it. But selfishly, I am pissed.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the Future of His Career and the Importance of Hard Work<\/strong><\/p>\n

When asked about the future and his career trajectory, Prescott was confident in his path:<\/p>\n

\u201cGreatness. I\u2019m going to work every day, bust my ass in the gym, the way that I take care of my body, throwing on the field, to do everything I can. I don\u2019t expect anything different than years past, to be better next year than I was this year. I think over my career, the track record somewhat proves that. For me it\u2019s just continuing the work. I don\u2019t know if there\u2019s many that work as hard as me or as intentional as me. I pride myself in that. I look forward to getting back to that, like I said, here in about a week. I control what I can control. I worry about the present. The future will take care of itself.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the Team’s Progress and What They Need Going Forward<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prescott also spoke about the future of the team and the adjustments needed to improve:<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, we need him. We want him. He goes out and makes a game like this. Damn, bro, making the price high [smiling]. But yeah, the type of guy he is, the type of player, the leader honestly. He\u2019s somebody I want around; somebody I think we need around. He\u2019s been awesome. He\u2019s been a great teammate. Super thankful to have him this season, to get to know him, be a teammate with him. Like I said, I hope it\u2019s not one season.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the Passing Title and What\u2019s Next for the Offseason<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think the number is that far off now. I kind of have a feeling one of those guys are going to go make sure they beat it this afternoon. It would have been cool or it will be cool, don\u2019t get me wrong. I said it to the O-line just the other day. It would be cool for me. It\u2019s cool for the organization, one, being the first Cowboy to do it. Anybody that stepped on the field with me will share that. That\u2019s what I told the offensive line; You guys blocked for the yards leader in the league. That\u2019s something you carry just as much as I do.
