\u201cSeeing every single intensive care unit (PICU) full \u2014 every single day a battle to save these kids \u2014 haunted Chelsea and me deeply,\u201d Freddie told ESPN. \u201cSo many doctors and nurses are still giving hope, healing, and life to these kids day and night.\u201d It was that scene \u2014 not the stadiums filled with lights \u2014 that inspired him to do something more meaningful. \u201cCHOC saved Maximus\u2019s life,\u201d he said, \u201cand now we want to help save other kids\u2019 lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

It all began in the summer of 2024, when Maximus suddenly collapsed: from leg pain, he quickly became paralyzed \u2014 on a ventilator, on a feeding tube \u2014 and diagnosed with GBS. The Freemans immediately sensed this was more than just a medical accident \u2014 it was a fight for their lives. Maximus spent eight terrifying days in the ICU before starting to recover.”<\/p>\n
