The Orioles have improved their roster this offseason through trades and free agent signings and the team isn’t done yet.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The\u00a0Baltimore Orioles\u00a0have been one of baseball\u2019s busiest teams this offseason.<\/p>\n

After failing to reach the playoffs in a dismal 2025 campaign, Baltimore appears\u00a0committed to bolstering the roster\u00a0for a bounce-back in 2026.<\/p>\n

Following a flurry of moves, the Orioles\u2019 made a splash by\u00a0signing Pete Alonso to a five-year, $155 million deal.<\/p>\n

The Polar Bear finally landed the long-term contract he\u2019d been seeking from the Mets. And Baltimore made the five-time All-Star MLB\u2019s highest-paid first baseman by average annual value ($31 million AVV).<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the Orioles\u00a0aren\u2019t done spending\u00a0after inking Alonso. The team\u2019s ownership group, led by David Rubenstein, hasn\u2019t set a payroll limit, giving Mike Elias the green light to continue pursuing free agents, per The Baltimore Banner\u2019s Andy Kostka.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there are other great players we can get, we\u2019ll try to get them,\u201d Rubenstein noted.<\/p>\n

Elias, the Orioles\u2019 president of baseball operations, hinted that there\u2019s\u00a0more to come after signing Alonso. It\u2019s exciting news for fans after Baltimore\u2019s strong start to the offseason<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Orioles landed Taylor Ward\u00a0in a trade with the Angels last month. While the move cost the team talented but often injured starting pitcher Grayson Rodriguez, Ward instantly improves Baltimore\u2019s outfield.<\/p>\n

Elias also addressed the team\u2019s bullpen,\u00a0signing Ryan Helsley\u00a0to a two-year, $28 million deal. The veteran closer will fill the void left by Felix Bautista, who\u2019s out for the season following shoulder surgery.<\/p>\n

The Orioles also got Andrew Kittredge back from the Chicago Cubs after trading him at the deadline.<\/p>\n

Of course, the Alonso signing is Baltimore\u2019s biggest move so far.<\/p>\n

The former Mets slugger spent the first seven years of his career in Queens.<\/p>\n

Now the Polar Bear heads to Charm City to help Baltimore compete in a stacked AL East.<\/p>\n

While the team could add another bat to the lineup, Elias appears to be focused on starting pitching.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s even more of an area of need following Rodriguez\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n
