The Los Angeles Dodgers are loaded.<\/p>\n

But if there’s one area of need they’d like to address in free agency, it’s relief pitching and the closer spot.<\/p>\n

Luckily for L.A., there are a number of solid options out there. None are more notable than Edwin Diaz, the free agent from the New York Mets.<\/p>\n

The Mets may very well want Diaz back, but it’s safe to expect the Dodgers to inquire, too.<\/p>\n

MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand took a crack at finding one free agent for each of the 30 MLB teams. And in that new article, Feinsand gives the Dodgers their guy, Diaz.<\/p>\n

“Even after signing Tanner Scott a year ago, the Dodgers found themselves searching for an answer in the ninth inning by the end of the season,” Feinsand writes. “Roki Sasaki filled the role through the postseason, but\u00a0he\u2019s expected to return to the rotation, leaving a vacancy in the ninth inning. D\u00edaz opted out of the final two years of his record-setting, five-year, $102 million contract with the Mets, and whether or not he exceeds that with his next deal, he\u2019s a perfect fit for a team that never hesitates to spend.”<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Diaz opted out of a contract that was going to pay him nearly $20 million per year for the next couple seasons, so he certainly thinks he can get a solid payday.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers could overbid a bit if that’s what it takes to get him, although if they’re bidding against the Mets, those are two sets of deep ownership pockets.<\/p>\n

Both teams need Diaz, too, and they likely aren’t the only ones interested.<\/p>\n

But it would somehow make sense for the Dodgers to get Diaz. Back to back World Series titles, why not add more star power?<\/p>\n
