Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Tommy Edman spoke about his recovery from his ankle injury after he underwent surgery this offseason.<\/p>\n

Edman, 31, spent most of his time in center field after joining the Dodgers in 2024, but his ankle injury kept him predominantly in the infield in 2025.<\/p>\n
He initially sprained his ankle in April, spending a couple of weeks on the injured list. Edman returned in the middle of May, though went back to the injured list in August after reaggravating the injury. He returned in September, though he still battled injury heading into the postseason.<\/p>\n
Edman still contributed to the Dodgers\u2019 World Series run in 2025 \u2014 playing in 16 games \u2014 but underwent surgery following the celebrations.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s doing all right. I recently got the surgery, so hoping that fixes it for good,\u201d Edman said on ESPN\u2019s Sedano and Kap Morning Show. \u201cIt\u2019s something I needed to do after dealing with it the past two seasons. They said everything went smooth. Hopefully it\u2019s a good recovery and I get back to 100 percent.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Dodgers managed to get by while Edman spent time on the injured list, fielding utility players at second and Andy Pages in center field, but the depth in their lineup suffered while the veteran recovered.<\/p>\n
This showed during the postseason, as Justin Dean \u2014 who had spent the vast majority of the season in Triple-A \u2014 served as the Dodgers\u2019 secondary center fielder throughout October.<\/p>\n
Now, with Miguel Rojas still available in free agency, Edman\u2019s health is more important than ever to the Dodgers\u2019 depth. Whether he will play in the outfield or at second next season, the Dodgers will hope he recovers well from the surgery and can log a healthy season in LA as they look for a three-peat.<\/p>\n
