Jerry Jones lit a fire under Cowboys Nation without even meaning to.<\/p>\n

Just hours after Micah Parsons posted another monster game\u2014racking up 2.5 sacks, six pressures, and a dominant performance in Green Bay\u2019s 31\u201324 win over the Detroit Lions\u2014Dallas Cowboys CEO Jerry Jones couldn’t hide his admiration. But his words left many Cowboys fans fuming.<\/p>\n

\u201cMicah is playing on a completely different level right now. That\u2019s not the same guy who left. He\u2019s sharper, faster, more locked in \u2013 and that defense? It\u2019s solid as a rock\u201d
\n\"Jerry<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Those words might\u2019ve sounded like simple praise from a former employer to a former player. But for Cowboys fans still bitter about the blockbuster offseason trade\u2014which sent Parsons to the Packers in exchange for Kenny Clark and two first-round picks\u2014they felt like salt in a still-open wound.<\/p>\n

Parsons is now the first player in NFL history to record 12+ sacks in each of his first five seasons, and he\u2019s a leading candidate for Defensive Player of the Year. While the Cowboys\u2019 defense has remained solid, many believe Dallas hasn\u2019t been the same without its once-in-a-generation pass rusher.<\/p>\n

Within minutes of the quote surfacing, Cowboys fans took to social media to vent.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s starting to regret it. You can hear it in his voice.\u201d
\n\u201cWhy is our own CEO hyping up a guy WE traded?\u201d
\n\u201cWe didn\u2019t just lose a player. We lost the identity of our defense.\u201d<\/p>\n

To be fair, Jones has long admired Parsons\u2019 work ethic and raw ability. But the timing of his praise\u2014especially as Dallas fights for a Wild Card spot and Green Bay surges atop the NFC North\u2014was too much for fans still haunted by what could have been.<\/p>\n
