D\u00edaz is available for a team like the San Francisco Giants to pick up in the offseason. Now, the question becomes would the Giants spend the money to sign him?

In a list of the top 50 MLB free agents available right now, The Athletic put\u00a0D\u00edaz at the No. 11 spot. That\u2019s pretty good in a list of 50 available players.<\/p>\n

D\u00edaz had a great 2025 for him as the right-hander finished with an ERA below 2.00 along with converting 28 of his 31 save chances for the Mets.<\/p>\n

If Giants manager Tony Vitello could get\u00a0D\u00edaz to come out of the Giants\u2019 bullpen, then that would be a big, big lift in his first season leading the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter opting out of the final two years of the five-year deal he signed in 2022, D\u00edaz has a chance to once again become the sport\u2019s highest-paid closer,\u201d The Athletic article indicates.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter missing all of 2023 thanks to a torn knee ligament, and enduring some inconsistency in 2024, D\u00edaz pitched like his best self in 2025,\u201d the article continues. \u201cHis ERA was comfortably under 2.00 (1.63), his strikeout rate was 38 percent, and he converted 28 of his 31 save chances.<\/p>\n

\u201cD\u00edaz\u2019s velocity has dipped since the knee injury and his transcendent 2022 season, but the mix of his four-seam and his wiffle-ball slider works just so long as he can throw them for strikes,\u201d according to The Athletic.<\/p>\n

Would Giants fans welcome Timmy Trumpet out to Oracle Park? That might not be a negotiating point between\u00a0D\u00edaz and any team looking to sign him.<\/p>\n

The Athletic indicates that D\u00edaz might be looking for a four-year, $84 million deal. Besides the Giants, the Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers were listed as potential landing spots for the ace reliever.<\/p>\n

Giants fans probably don\u2019t want to see\u00a0D\u00edaz wearing Dodger blue at all. Imagine the Giants and Dodgers in one of their classic rivalry close games and San Francisco hears Timmy Trumpet playing his song\u2026for the Dodgers.<\/p>\n

The question now becomes around the contract. Would the Giants fork over that money for\u00a0D\u00edaz? Is it a risk they are willing to take ahead of the 2026 MLB season?<\/p>\n

Giants president of baseball operations Buster Posey and Giants management will have to think long and hard about this. Sure, San Francisco wants to be back in any type of postseason conversation at all.<\/p>\n

Yet the Giants need help.\u00a0D\u00edaz offers them a surefire ace in the bullpen.<\/p>\n
