offensive coordinator Arthur Smith<\/strong>\u00a0has privately expressed growing frustration, believing that\u00a0head coach Mike Tomlin\u2019s outdated offensive philosophy is directly holding both him and Aaron Rodgers back.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Smith was hired to revive a stagnant offense, but he reportedly feels he\u2019s never truly been given the freedom to run his system. During a post\u2013Week 12 internal review, Smith told colleagues that the current approach \u201cis built to avoid risk to the point that it suffocates innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sources say Smith didn\u2019t hesitate to address the root of the problem. Tomlin\u2019s system\u00a0eliminates almost all middle-of-the-field passing concepts<\/strong>, making the Steelers one of the most predictable offenses in the league.
