Giants Minor Leaguer Antonio Jim\u00e9nez in Intensive Care Following Tragic Crash in Dominican Republic<\/strong><\/p>\nSan Francisco Giants minor league pitcher Antonio Jim\u00e9nez is in intensive care after a devastating car crash in the Dominican Republic on Monday morning left three others dead.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old right-hander, who had been pitching in the Dominican Winter League for Toros del Este, was the sole survivor of a collision involving an SUV and two scooters in San Pedro de Macor\u00eds – a city with deep baseball roots, located about an hour east of Santo Domingo. According to local reports, Jim\u00e9nez sustained serious injuries, including fractures to his spine and femur, as well as multiple lacerations. He was transported to a nearby medical facility and remains under intensive care.<\/p>\n
The crash was fatal for three other individuals involved, and the Toros del Este acknowledged the tragedy in a statement posted to social media. The team confirmed Jim\u00e9nez\u2019s injuries and extended condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.<\/p>\n
