The San Francisco 49ers are set to take on the New York Giants on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, but before the game, they announced four roster moves on Saturday.<\/p>\n
San Francisco’s first move was placing defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos on injured reserve. He’s missed the last three weeks, and while he was set to return on Sunday, he re-injured his hamstring on Friday. He’ll now miss the next four games.<\/p>\n

To fill his spot on the active roster, the 49ers have activated offensive lineman Spencer Burford from injured reserve. The 25-year-old was a starter for the first two years of his career before moving to the bench in 2024. He appeared on special teams in the first two games of 2025 before landing on injured reserve with a knee injury.<\/p>\n
San Francisco also decided to elevate to players from the practice squad – defensive end Clelin Ferrell and offensive lineman Nick Zakelj.<\/p>\n
Ferrell, 28, played with the 49ers in 2023, recording 28 tackles (six for a loss), 13 quarterback hits, 3.5 sacks, one pass defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He returned to the team on the practice squad earlier this week after playing one season for the Washington Commanders in 2024 and one game for the Los Angeles Chargers this year. This is his first elevation from San Francisco’s practice squad.<\/p>\n
Zakelj, 26, joined the 49ers as a sixth-round pick (No. 187 overall) in the 2022 NFL draft. Over his first four seasons, he appeared in 28 games and started two. He appeared in two games this year, and this is his third and final elevation from the practice squad.<\/p>\n
