The Kansas City Chiefs finally got some positive news about absent offensive lineman Josh Simmons.<\/p>\n
Simmons is expected to rejoin the Chiefs within the next few weeks, according to Nate Taylor of ESPN. The rookie left tackle has been away from the team for family reasons since Oct. 12.<\/p>\n
A potential target date for Simmons\u2019 return could be around the team\u2019s Week 10 bye. The Chiefs have two more games before the bye, including a showdown with the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 2.<\/p>\n
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Thursday that the team has been in communication with Simmons and that it is not a \u201cnegative situation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Virtually nothing is known about Simmons\u2019 family situation right now. The Chiefs have spoken as if it is major, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes said at one point he was \u201cpraying\u201d for Simmons. One report even characterized the situation as \u201cextremely serious.\u201d<\/p>\n
