The Chicago Cubs fell short of the ultimate goal this season, which is crushing for the franchise considering it\u2019s watching Kyle Tucker head into free agency this winter.<\/p>\n

Tucker will have a handful of the biggest spending teams on his tail this offseason. The Cubs need to do everything in their power to re-sign him.<\/p>\n

Bleacher Report’s Erik Beaston recently predicted the Cubs would win the Tucker sweepstakes in free agency, which would be a huge move for the future of their franchise.<\/p>\n

“The back-to-back NL champions are no strangers to spending in the off-season if they believe a player can help them achieve their goals of continuing their dynasty, so it is not particularly surprising to hear a report linking them to a hotly coveted free agent,” Beaston wrote on Monday. “Especially when that free agent collected 133 hits, 73 RBI, and 22 HR, all while combating a hand injury.<\/p>\n

“If he is healthy and can continue to put the bat on the ball, the Dodgers will not be the only team looking to pry him away from Chicago. The Cubs, though, likely recognize how important he was to their playoff push and how significant he will be moving forward. While the Dodgers are rarely out-spent, it would be surprising if Chicago did not make a significant push to keep Tucker in the blue and white pinstripes for the foreseeable future.”<\/p>\n

The Cubs seem unlikely to re-sign Tucker, considering the fact that he’s projected to land a deal worth over $350 million and the Cubs have never signed a free agency for anywhere close to this number.<\/p>\n

But the Cubs swung the trade for Tucker with his free agency in mind. They must have believed they could re-sign him if they traded for him on an expiring deal.<\/p>\n

Now the Cubs need to put up the money to land this mega-deal.<\/p>\n
