The New York Yankees have reportedly decided to cut ties with two coaches on the staff \u2014 bullpen coach Mike Harkey and first base coach Travis Chapman \u2014 after the 2025 season.<\/p>\n

The Yankees lost in the ALDS to their division rivals, the Toronto Blue Jays, in four games in a sad ending to their season.<\/p>\n

Superstar Aaron Judge delivered another fantastic season at the plate and had his best postseason, but it was not enough to beat the Jays.<\/p>\n

According to SNY reporter Andy Martino, Yankees hitting coordinator Jake Hirst could be in the running for a major league job, while current major league hitting coach James Rowson is a candidate for the Minnesota Twins manager opening.<\/p>\n

Martino also reported that the Yankees are considering changes at other spots, aiming to shake up the team’s brain trust to deliver better baseball on the field.<\/p>\n

“Had a great 16 years and I\u2019m very grateful for the opportunity I had with the Yankee organization! I wish them nothing but the best!!,” Harkey told Martino about leaving the organization.<\/p>\n

Harkey served on former Yankees manager Joe Girardi’s coaching staff from 2008 to 2013, then moved to the Arizona Diamondbacks for two seasons as a pitching coach. He returned to the Yankees as a bullpen coach in 2016 under Girardi once again, and stayed with the team through the transition to Aaron Boone.<\/p>\n

Chapman was a coach in the Yankees’ minor league system and ended up joining Boone’s major league staff in 2022 as a first base and infield coach.<\/p>\n

Per Chris Kirschner of The Athletic, other changes could be coming to the coaching staff this offseason.<\/p>\n

“More changes could come to the Yankees\u2019 coaching staff. Pitching coach Matt Blake and catching coordinator Tanner Swanson have club options, and bench coach Brad Ausmus\u2019 and third-base coach Luis Rojas\u2019 contracts expired,” he wrote for The Athletic.<\/p>\n

For the Yankees, this is only the start of a long offseason. They are expected to make significant moves over the winter to upgrade the roster as they look to get back to the World Series.<\/p>\n
