The Dallas Cowboys’ run game, one can say this season, the Carolina Panthers game aside, has been one of the better units in football.<\/p>\n

With Javonte Williams, the bell cow back for Brian Schottenheimer, rushing for 476 yards and five touchdowns, he is proving to be a very shrewd free agency pick-up.<\/p>\n

But that hasn’t stopped fans from wanting the Cowboys to dip into the trade market to get a better running back, and yes, having a better “backup” behind Javonte while Jaydon Blue gets his feet underneath him is an idea I like, as far as replacing Williams? Not so much.<\/p>\n

New York Jets running back Breece Hall continues to be mentioned as a trade candidate for the Cowboys, for reasons we don’t fully understand, and FanSided’s\u00a0Christopher Kline thinks it is a move Dallas should explore.<\/p>\n

There are a few problems with Hall to Dallas, so let me explain.<\/p>\n

Why Cowboys won’t trade for Breece Hall<\/h2>\n

The first is that the Cowboys rarely want to “double dip,” as Stephen Jones says, and in Hall’s case, Dallas would have to.<\/p>\n

Trading away draft capital for Hall, to then have to re-sign him to a contract that would be far more than Williams’ simply won’t happen, in my opinion, anyway. Williams is reportedly on roughly $3 million for this season, and the Cowboys aren’t big spenders on the running back position, especially after getting burned by Ezekiel Elliott.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys don’t usually like parting ways with draft capital, and would the front office do it for what might be a one-year rental? Not likely.<\/p>\n

The second is that Spotrac.com has Hall’s value set at $9.8 million APY. Dallas likely isn’t paying that.<\/p>\n

So, while Hall to Dallas is a good idea, it should remain just that, an idea.<\/p>\n
