The Dallas Cowboys dropped another loss, this time to the Carolina Panthers. After a back-and-forth score, the Panthers were able to secure the win on a last-second field goal.<\/p>\n

With the latest loss, the Cowboys’ defense is giving up an NFL-worst 411.7 yards per game, 269.5 passing yards per game, and a third-worst 30.7 points given up to opponents.<\/p>\n

Simply put, the defense needs to change. One such way things could change would be for the Cowboys to fire Matt Eberflus, which fans called for following the loss.<\/p>\n

Eberflus came to the Cowboys to serve as the defensive coordinator after an unsuccessful stint as the head coach of the Chicago Bears. Despite calls for his job, it appears that Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer has no intention of moving on.<\/p>\n

When speaking to reporters after the game, Schottenheimer let it be known that Eberflus is not the biggest problem as to why the defense is struggling.<\/p>\n

“Matt\u2019s a great coach. Everywhere he\u2019s ever been he\u2019s had good defenses. It\u2019s not just Matt by himself. Matt\u2019s trying. The players are trying. This is not a lack of effort,” Schottenheimer said.<\/p>\n

Despite the defense being a major problem, Schottenheimer is backing up the former Bears head coach.<\/p>\n

Dallas’ season is not lost, and the team is still missing star players like CeeDee Lamb. Once he returns, things might change for the better. The hope was that Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland being in the game after suffering injuries would help, but that was not the case.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys face the Washington Commanders and Denver Broncos next. Both games will be tough, as they contain two of the most formidable offenses in the NFL. Something needs to stop the bleeding, but it won’t be Eberflus being let go.<\/p>\n

If Dallas loses both games on more than 25 points in each contest, then that might be the time that Schottenheimer must make a choice. Either way, the Cowboys need to go back to the drawing board to prepare for the Commanders in Week 7.<\/p>\n
