Former Red Sox righty Eduard Bazardo was among the heroes in Seattle\u2019s 3-2 walkoff win in 15 innings over the Tigers in Game 5 of the ALDS.<\/p>\n
The Mariners advanced to face the Blue Jays in the ALCS.<\/p>\n
The 30-year-old Bazardo \u2014 who Boston initially signed out of Venezuela in 2014 \u2014 pitched 2 \u2154 scoreless innings and struck out four while allowing one hit and one walk (intentional).<\/p>\n

Bazardo replaced Logan Gilbert with no outs and runners on first and second base with the game tied 2-2 in the 12th inning. Zach McKinstry and Dillon Dingler had singled off Gilbert to lead off the inning.<\/p>\n
Parker Meadows laid down a sac bunt to advance McKinstry and Dingler to second and third base.<\/p>\n
Javier B\u00e1ez, the next batter, grounded to third baseman Eugenio Su\u00e1rez, who threw out McKinstry at the plate for the second out.<\/p>\n
After an intentional walk to Kerry Carpenter to load the bases, Bazardo got Gleyber Torres to fly out to right field to escape the jam.<\/p>\n
Bazardo struck out the side in order in the 13th inning. He left the game with a runner at second base and two outs in the 14th. He was replaced by Luis Castillo who recorded the final out of the 14th to keep the game scoreless.<\/p>\n

Bazardo appeared in 14 games for Boston from 2021-22 after increasing his fastball velocity significantly while at the Red Sox\u2019 Dominican Academy during the canceled 2020 minor league season. He elected free agency after Boston outrighted him to Triple-A Worcester in October 2022.<\/p>\n
He went 5-0 with a 2.52 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 12 holds and a .189 batting average against in 73 outings (78 \u2154 innings) for the Mariners this season.<\/p>\n
He has allowed just a .198 batting average and has a 3.18 ERA in 122 career major league outings.<\/p>\n
Seattle won in the 15th inning on Jorge Polanco\u2019s walkoff RBI single.<\/p>\n
