The New York Yankees fell well short of the World Series this year, losing to the Toronto Blue Jays in the ALDS.<\/p>\n

Despite finishing with the same record as the Blue Jays in the regular season, the Yankees were completely overmatched against them in October, getting outscored 34-19 over the four games.<\/p>\n

While much of the blame has fallen on manager Aaron Boone, New York\u2019s front office also deserves criticism for building him a flawed roster.<\/p>\n

Former Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez didn\u2019t hold back after New York was eliminated on Wednesday, defending Boone and going after the team\u2019s front office instead during FS1\u2019s postgame show.<\/p>\n

You have three left-handed catchers. You have five DHs. You have a first baseman in and out. It\u2019s just a very difficult hand for Boone, and honestly, they were exposed against a much better Jays team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rodriguez won a World Series with the Yankees in 2009, so he knows what it takes to win it all. New York hasn\u2019t won a championship since then.<\/p>\n

The three-time AL MVP is right in that Brian Cashman deserves much of the blame as well. The Yankees simply weren\u2019t good enough to win it all this year, regardless of how well Boone managed.<\/p>\n

While Boone expects to be back next season, it will be another interesting offseason in the Bronx as New York tries to recover from its latest postseason failure.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
