The Dallas Cowboys are off to an up-and-down start to the 2025 season, holding a 1-2-1 record after a tie against the Green Bay Packers last week.<\/p>\n

This season is different for the Cowboys with a new head coach in Brian Schottenheimer, who was promoted from offensive coordinator, and quarterback Dak Prescott is back after suffering a season-ending injury last season.<\/p>\n

It’s safe to say that Prescott doesn’t get the recognition that Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen get, but at least one NFL insider thinks Prescott should get much more attention and acclaim than he does.<\/p>\n

While Allen, the reigning NFL MVP, is getting a lot of looks this season and people are already saying he could win\u00a0MVP for a second consecutive year, NFL insider Charles Woodson thinks Prescott has outplayed Allen.<\/p>\n

“Coming into the season, we didn’t know what was going to happen with his Cowboys team,” Woodson said during “Fox NFL Kickoff.” “Right now, Dak Prescott is playing at an elite level \u2014 280 passing yards per game, which is tops in the NFL. If it wasn’t for a couple of dropped passes at the beginning of the season against the Eagles, they win that game. Their record could be totally different.”<\/p>\n

“Against the Packers, he went toe-to-toe with Jordan Love and that Green Bay offense,” he added. “Dak Prescott right now is playing at an elite, elite level and is doing so without CeeDee Lamb.”<\/p>\n

Against the Packers, Prescott threw for 319 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for a touchdown and threw another one late in the first half to help the Cowboys take a lead going into halftime after being behind earlier in the game.<\/p>\n

Nick Shook of NFL.com has Prescott ranked No. 5 on his Week 5 tally of quarterbacks. He agrees with Woodson that the Cowboys’ record doesn’t tell the real story.<\/p>\n

“The Cowboys’ 1-2-1 record doesn’t suggest it, but Dak Prescott is having a fantastic season,” Shook says in the Oct. 2 piece. “He put together an excellent performance in a shootout with the Packers, completing 31-of-40 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns, including arguably the NFL’s best throw of the year to Jalen Tolbert for a 34-yard completion that set up their field goal in overtime.<\/p>\n
