The New York Yankees lost in Game 1 of the ALDS to the Toronto Blue Jays after their bullpen imploded in the seventh inning.<\/p>\n

The Yankees allowed two runs to the Blue Jays in the first two innings of the game, but held them until they put in reliever Luke Weaver in the seventh inning. Weaver, 32, allowed three earned runs on two hits and a walk without recording an out before being replaced.<\/p>\n

“The results haven’t been good. There’s been a lot of internal factors,” Weaver said in a YouTube video posted by the YES Network. “I don’t want to get too crazy into it, but there’s been adjustments I’ve had to make based off of things that people are seeing, and it just hasn’t really lined up. It’s been pretty late in the adjustment period, and it’s just not lining up out there.<\/p>\n

“I don’t feel like my mind is completely clear to go out there and attack. I do feel physically strong. I do feel mentally strong, overall. I just think there’s just some factors that are building up, and I’m just not executing at the clip I want to.”<\/p>\n

Weaver has played well since joining the Yankees during the 2023 season, but in his last two appearances has let up five runs without recording an out. The 32-year-old further implied he may have been tipping pitches down the stretch. It’s unclear if Weaver will end up getting another opportunity this offseason.<\/p>\n
