Most of the bad news the San Francisco 49ers have received this season has come in the form of mounting injuries.<\/p>\n

Defensive end Nick Bosa is out for the year with an ACL injury, while tight end George Kittle has been on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n

The team also added defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos, cornerback Upton Stout, defensive tackles Alfred Collins and Kalia Davis, and safety Malik Mustapha to its injury report on Friday, and quarterback Brock Purdy\u2019s status remains up in the air as he battles a lingering turf toe injury.<\/p>\n

San Francisco has been fortunate to get to the weekend without a new injury to a key starter popping up, but one of the team\u2019s biggest stars was punished by the league on Saturday for his actions the previous week.<\/p>\n

The NFL fined 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey $23,186 for unnecessary roughness (use of helmet) for his attempted tackle of Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd in Week 4.<\/p>\n

Lloyd intercepted Purdy at the 35-yard line early in the second quarter, and on the return, McCaffrey lowered his helmet and attempted to tackle him. Lloyd lowered his hand and stiff-armed McCaffrey, avoiding any significant contact and potential injury.<\/p>\n

Jacksonville scored a touchdown on its next drive and took a 14-3 lead.<\/p>\n

McCaffrey is tied with Washington Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu, who was fined the same amount for his hip-drop tackle in Washington\u2019s 34-27 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, for the largest fine handed out in Week 4.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old tailback was instrumental in the 49ers\u2019 26-23 Week 5 overtime win over the Los Angeles Rams on \u201cThursday Night Football.\u201d He had 57 yards rushing and 82 yards receiving and a touchdown on eight catches.<\/p>\n
