One of the biggest needs for the\u00a0Milwaukee Brewers\u00a0this offseason will be starting pitching. Milwaukee will be looking at all options this offseason in how to improve the roster.<\/p>\n

It is going to be interesting to see what general manager\u00a0Matt Arnold\u00a0decides to do with starting pitching and other positions on the roster.<\/p>\n

Sports Illustrated Patrick McAvoy Thinks That the Milwaukee Brewers Should Sign Max Scherzer This Offseason<\/h2>\n

There is no doubt that the Brewers will be on the hunt for starting pitching this offseason. One name that comes to mind is starting pitcher Max Scherzer.<\/p>\n

Sports Illustrated Patrick McAvoy\u00a0thinks that Milwaukee should sign him this offseason. The reason why he thinks this is because:<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOne player who could make a lot of sense is future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer. He has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the last 17 years. <\/em><\/p>\n

Scherzer is an eight-time All-Star and three-time Cy Young Award winner.<\/em><\/p>\n

He is now 40 years old and is nearing the end of his career, but he could make sense for the Brewers on a one-year deal this winter. He is\u00a0projected to get a $15 million deal\u00a0this winter, and that could work for the Brewers.<\/em><\/p>\n

Scherzer dealt with some injuries in 2024 but still had a 3.95 ERA across nine starts. In 2023, he had a 3.77 ERA across 27 starts. If he\u2019s healthy, he can still be effective and help solidify the Brewers\u2019 rotation<\/em><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Brewers\u00a0have a young roster and it wouldn\u2019t hurt to bring in a veteran of Scherzer\u2019s caliber as well. This could be a win-win type of deal this winter if the Brewers want to try to make a run in 2025. Scherzer is the type of player that could put Miwlaukee over the top without breaking the bank.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Would the Milwaukee Brewers want to bring a player who is past his prime or would they want to sign someone younger? Also, would Max Scherzer want to go to a team who may not win a World Series Title although the Brewers have won the National League Central Title the last two seasons? Scherzer could decide to retire instead of signing anywhere next season.<\/p>\n

Traded Corbin Burnes Last Offseason<\/h2>\n

Last offseason, the Milwaukee Brewers traded Corbin Burnes away to the Baltimore Orioles with only one year remaining on his contract. What if the Brewers decided to sign Burnes instead of signing Scherzer? That probably would not happen because Corbin Burnes would want more money on the open market than Max Scherzer would<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span>Freddy Peralta and Brandon Woodruff would most likely be the top two starting pitchers on the Brewers next season.
