The teams have been determined. The order is still up in the air.

After Saturday’s loss to the Tigers, the Red Sox can either finish as the second wild card/No. 5 seed of the third wild card/No. 6 seed.

The Red Sox can get the No. 5 seed by: Beating the Tigers on Sunday OR the Guardians lose to Texas. Boston would travel to play either the Yankees or Blue Jays.

The Red Sox would be the sixth seed if: They lose to Detroit on Sunday and Cleveland beats Texas.

The No. 5 would face the No. 4, which will either be the Yankees or the Blue Jays who have the same record going into Sunday’s finale, tied at 93-68.

The Yankees host the Orioles and the Blue Jays host the Rays. Toronto holds the tiebreaker if they finish the season tied.

The Tigers and Guardians are also tied at 87-74 atop the AL Central. Cleveland would win the division if they finish tied.

If they’re tied because they both win, Detroit would be the No. 5 seed and face Toronto or New York. If they’re tied because they both lose, the Tigers would be the No. 6 and would go to Cleveland.

Here’s where things stand:

Red Sox record: 88-73

Games remaining: 1

Playoff Format

Six teams make the field. The top two division winners each get a bye in the Wild Card round. The third division winner is the No. 3 seed and plays the third wild card team. The first and second wild card teams are the No. 4 and 5 seeds and play each other. The higher seed will host all the games.
