The Dallas Cowboys have had a rough calendar month.
After trading away an All-Pro EDGE rusher days before the 2025 season began, Dallas lost another All-Pro franchise stalwart when star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb went down with an ankle injury. Concern levels around Lamb’s health quickly rose after he attempted to return to the game, but realized the pain was unbearable.
Lamb remained optimistic about his ability to return to the field in Dallas’ upcoming games, but reports from around the Cowboys organization suggest that he might miss extended time.

1. CeeDee Lamb
Lamb is a three-time All-Pro and unquestionably one of the faces of the Cowboys franchise.
The 26-year-old is in his sixth season with Dallas and entered 2025 having recorded four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. Lamb does it all for the Cowboys, and their offense understandably takes on a much different look without him.
2. George Pickens
The Cowboys added Pickens in an offseason trade, and he is in his first season in North Texas.
Pickens caught 13 passes for 166 yards in his first three games with the franchise, including touchdown receptions in Weeks 1 and 2. In Lamb’s absence, Pickens can step into a familiar role as a go-to receiver, having seen plenty of targets during his time with the Steelers.
3. Jalen Tolbert
Tolbert was a third-round pick in 2022 who has grown into a larger role over the course of his Cowboys career.
He’s coming off a breakout season in 2024 and saw 12 targets through the first three weeks of the 2025 season. That number should rise with Lamb sidelined.
4. KaVontae Turpin
Turpin is a speedster and a deep-ball threat whose first eight catches in 2025 led to 129 yards. He’ll keep defenses honest, if nothing else.
5. Ryan Flournoy
Flournoy is a second-year wide receiver who caught 10 passes for 102 yards as a rookie. He was elevated from Dallas’ practice squad before Weeks 1 and 2 of the season.

CeeDee Lamb injury update
Lamb sustained a high ankle sprain early in Week 3 of the 2025 season.
Reports indicate that he could miss three to four weeks with the injury, suggesting he is dealing with a Grade 2 high ankle sprain. Jerry Jones has mentioned that injured reserve is a possibility, which would sideline Lamb for a minimum of four weeks.
