🚨TRADE BUZZ: A New Orleans Saints pass rusher has been linked to the 49ers in a speculative trade proposal, sparking fan and analyst chatter about potential roster moves and how this acquisition could reshape San Francisco’s defensive strategy.

Sports Illustrated’s Zach Presnell believes that the San Francisco 49ers could give the New Orleans Saints a phone call inquiring about veteran pass rusher Cameron Jordan. However, the edge rusher that they may target is Carl Granderson.

The San Francisco 49ers took a significant hit to their pass rushing unit, losing Nick Bosa for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL in their week 3 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. This devastating injury is expected to greatly impact their defensive front and will likely prompt them to browse the trade market for an impactful edge rusher.

Granderson is off to a hot start in 2025, emerging as one of the best pass rusher in the NFL. Through three games he’s recorded 3.5 sacks which is tied for fifth in the league. His strong performance to open the season has sent his stock soaring and could possibly see him in trade rumors.

49ers could turn to Carl Granderson to offset Bosa’s injury

The 49ers should have a lot of interest in Granderson, who appears to be just entering his prime and taking a leap to the next level. He would provide the 49ers with youth and a reliable pass rusher opposite of Mykel Williams and form a dangerous trio once when Bosa returns from injury. Not only would he help soften the blow of losing Bosa this season, but Granderson could also become a key part of the 49ers’ core pass rushers for future seasons.

Granderson would fit in well with the 49ers. His ability to rush the passer and stop the run make him an ideal addition to their defensive unit that thrives on disrupting the backfield. The 49ers are in win now mode, and they have the funds to pull the trigger and absorb his contract, as they have the fifth most cap space in the NFL. Making a move for a rising star like Granderson could give them that boost to overtake the NFC, not only for this season but for years to come.
