Dogs are the definition of loyal, especially senior dogs.
These gray-muzzled companions have been with their owners through the good and bad. Sweethearts like Lucy who remained by her owner’s side through Alzheimer’s. Sadly, she lost her friend and home.
The nine-year-oldRottweiler arrived at Humane Society of Broward County to grieve and find a new loving home to spend her golden years.
The shelter shared that Lucy loves people, walks, car rides, and tennis balls. Her joints are a little stiff but that doesn’t stop her from getting around. She is a little hesitant around other dogs but adores every person she meets.
Lucy has endured heartbreak and overnight had her world turned upside down. This senior gal is ready to find a new home and family to love.
@humanebroward Sadly, they are being overlooked because of their age and size 😔 Many of these mature pups have had families and know what a loving home feels like. 🥺They do not understand why they have been given up and are spending their golden years in a lonely kennel 💔Can you please open your heart and home to one of our older dogs? 🙏 Meet our Golden Girls 💛 The oldest pups currently waiting at our shelter: Lucy (9), Harley (9), and Anna (7). These sweet ladies may have a little gray on their faces, but they have endless love left to give. 🐾 Lucy is a 9-year-old Rottweiler who adored her late owner and stayed faithfully by her side through Alzheimer’s. She loves walks, car rides, tennis balls, and kids 10+. She’s cautious around other pets, but with people she is perfect. 🐾 Harley is a 9-year-old Lab mix and the perfect blend of calm and playful. She has amazing manners, knows her basics, and is always eager to please. Her favorite game? Fetch, of course 🎾 🐾 Anna is a 7-year-old Pittie mix with a mellow, affectionate personality. She loves snacks, car rides, playing in water, and is great with other dogs and kids. Senior dogs are calmer, often already housetrained, and so grateful for a second chance. 🙌These precious dogs do not understand why they have been given up and are now spending their golden years in a lonely kennel. ❤️🩹Their love is truly like no other 💕Can you open your heart and home to one of these Golden Girls? 🐕 Please share 🙏 If you cannot adopt, please consider donating to their care through our bio ❤️ To meet one of our senior pets, please visit www.humanebroward.com to fill out the pre-adoption form and then stop by the Humane Society of Broward County located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312.
