Kyle Schwarber is having a monster season for his Philadelphia Phillies. It’s fitting that he set an MLB record in the process.
Schwarber slugged two home runs in his Phillies’ 11-1 win over the Miami Marlins at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pa., on Wednesday. The first one came in the bottom of the third inning off Marlins pitcher Ryan Weathers. The solo homer, which tied the score at one, was Schwarber’s 55th of the season and 23rd off a lefty pitcher.
Kyle Schwarber now holds the all-time baseball record for most home runs off a left-handed pitcher by a lefty hitter in one season with 23.

The 23rd home run off a lefty is the most ever by a left-handed hitter against a left-handed pitcher in the same season.
Schwarber homered again in the 7th to make it 7-1. The monster homer traveled an estimated 468 feet and was Schwarber’s 57th of the season.
