New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox: Max Fried vs. Fraser Ellard

It required some ninth inning dramatics, but the Yankees picked up a win over the White Sox on Tuesday night, and it was a big one. For one, it officially clinched the Yankees’ spot in the 2025 postseason, as they look to return to and better their 2024 World Series appearance. Besides that, thanks to some help elsewhere, it also trimmed a game off the Yankees’ deficit in the AL East. With five games now left to play, the Yankees now trail the Blue Jays by just one game. Tonight, they’ll look to keep up their AL East chase in another game against the White Sox.

Tonight in game two of the set, the Yankees will send Max Fried to the mound. Fried appears completely over his mid-season struggles. He’s been very good of late, and is now coming off one of his best starts of the year, as he struck out 13 batters against the Orioles last time out.

Usually after a team clinches, they might send out a slightly weakened lineup, but they can’t really afford to do that with what’s still at stake, so all the big names are in the order for this one.

For the White Sox, Fraser Ellard will get the ball. Ellard has just 40 major league innings under his belt, with a career ERA of 4.05 (104 ERA+) to this point.

We hope that you’ll come join us in the game thread for tonight’s big game.
