TORONTO — Garrett Crochet, or “The big boy” as manager Alex Cora called him after Boston’s win last night, will be on the mound Wednesday.

The Red Sox ace (17-5, 2.69 ERA) is just 2 ⅔ innings short of reaching the 200-inning mark for the season.

He’ll try to help Boston get one win closer to a postseason berth when the Red Sox and Blue Jays play at 7:07 p.m. here at Rogers Centre. Future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer (5-4, 5.06 ERA) will start for Toronto.

Boston’s magic number to clinch a postseason spot is three, based on a combination of Red Sox wins and Astros losses as of now.
