Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is delivering on a promise that he made back in May in a major way.

The Kansas City Chiefs seemed to have no trouble towering over the New York Giants on Sunday, September 21, with a 22-9 win on the road. It was a must-win game for the Chiefs, because they were 0-2 heading into the game, and there’s no way they wanted to be 0-3 after Week 3. That’s just not acceptable for a championship-winning franchise.

The Chiefs, of course, have plenty of people to thank for the victory, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and head coach Andy Reid. But, it’s not all about football. All of these players and coaches have personal lives, too, and they’re constantly juggling their professional and personal lives to make everything work.

What’s cool is when they can combine some of their personal passions with their sport of football. Now, Mahomes making good on a promise that he made back in May to some very special, up-and-coming football players.

Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs Delivers

Mahomes is gifting more than a dozen high school football programs across the country with brand new uniforms and apparel, according to On3. He announced the move, which is in partnership with Adidas, back in May during his induction into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame.

The tally of schools feature his school, Whitehouse, as well as schools in Florida, Oklahoma, Georgia, Michigan, California, Texas and Missouri.

When first announcing the move, Mahomes said, “Seeing this Gladiator logo … which has become part of my identity on a Whitehouse jersey means everything to me. It’s a symbol of what we stood for when I was at Whitehouse.”

He added, “That mindset of giving everything you got and never backing down is something I’ve carried with me through every stage of my career. And now it is something I hope inspires the next generation of athletes across the country.”

Here’s the full tally of schools:

Whitehouse High School (Whitehouse, Texas)

Northwestern Senior High (Miami, Florida)

Broken Arrow High (Broken Arrow, Oklahoma)

Grayson High (Loganville, Georgia)

Cass Technical (Detroit, Michigan)

Detroit Catholic Central (Livonia, Michigan)

Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Florida)

Inglewood High (Inglewood, California)

Orange Lutheran (Orange, California)

Longview High (Longview, Texas)

Southlake Carroll (Southlake, Texas)

Servite High (Anaheim, California)

Central Senior High (Miami, Florida)

Liberty North High (Liberty, Missouri)

Lincoln High School (San Diego, California)

Patrick Mahomes Talks High School Football

“High school football is key to not just developing players but teaching them about the effort and drive needed to succeed in this sport,” Mahomes added, as reported by On3. “That mentality of going ‘all in’ is what’s driven me throughout my career and is what I hope Whitehouse and other programs adopt as they take the field in these Gladiator uniforms.”

Ahead of the season starting, Fox Sports released its tally of the best quarterbacks in the league, and they named Mahomes the top pick, although he was tied with Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens.

“When you win two of the last three Super Bowls, you’re clearly one of the league’s best players. Statistically, it wasn’t always pretty last year, but Mahomes and the Chiefs somehow finished atop their division and conference,” Henry McKenna noted in the piece.

Now that Jackson and the Ravens have lost to the Lions, we think Mahomes should be No. 1.
