A Buffalo Bills player is debunking a story about quarterback Josh Allen that’s been circulating in the news.
The Buffalo Bills are on a winning streak, which feels great, and they’re a beautiful 3-0 heading into their fourth week of the season. The Bills and their MVP-winning quarterback Josh Allen are always high profile, but they’re even in the spotlight more right now, because they’re on a winning streak when not many other teams in the NFL are enjoying that kind of success.
Following the Bills’ definitive win over the Miami Dolphins, some of the players on the squad have been doing the media rounds and talking about the state of the team. So, on Monday, September 22, Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir spoke with Kay Adams of “Up & Adams” about the win, what feels special about Buffalo this season, Allen and all things NFL.
During the chat, the talk turned to some gossip about Allen that Shakir totally debunked. So, the moral of this story is to obviously not believe everything you hear.
Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills Didn’t Do Something That Was In the News
If you heard something about Allen taking his teammates on a huge vacation, don’t believe it. The talk started on Monday, September 19, when MLFootball took to X to share that Allen was a “class act” and “took the entire team on a trip to Costa Rica for two days, according to Damar Hamlin. Allen paid for the entire trip and reportedly cost at least a couple hundred thousand dollars. Josh Allen is a class act. This is special.”
NFL insider Dov Kleiman also said on X, “Role Model: Bills star QB Josh Allen took the entire team on a trip to Costa Rica for two days this offseason. He even paid for the entire trip, including flights and food, which cost well over $100,000. Josh is the definition of a class act.”
Now, the idea of Allen taking his team on a vacation is actually a really nice thing, so there was no harm really done with this talk, which got a lot of reaction online. But, it appears that Allen didn’t take his team to Costa Rica.
Speaking on “Up & Adams,” Shakir said this just didn’t happen. “Josh did not take 53 men for $100k,” he said, “which, by the way, is like, I don’t know where you guys were staying, in tent somewhere, for 100k for 53 men. That did not happen.”
The Buffalo Bills Do Bond, Though
“No, that’d be crazy,” he added. “We do trips every year, but that’s more just football-related, to kind of get the chemistry back going on the field.”
He was also a bit perplexed about how that story came about and said, “I think somebody commented something or said… I think we were just talking about how great of a dude Josh is” and that came out of it. In the interview, he also called Allen the best player in the NFL, which we have to agree with, and said that the Bills’ chemistry is solid this year. It’s easy to see that chemistry on the field.
So, even though Allen didn’t take his team on a Costa Rica trip, he still rocks. We can’t wait to see more out of him this season.
