The Kansas City Chiefs have become accustomed to winning. Football is already an emotional game, but when the Chiefs started the 2025 campaign a lackluster 0-2, tensions were running high across the team.
Kansas City was in New Jersey for Week 3, taking on the New York Giants. During the game, the Chiefs were starting slowly, and head coach Andy Reid took a second to wake up one of his star players. Travis Kelce was walking the sideline and saying something that the broadcast didn’t pick up, but Reid was shown bumping him. The two walk the sideline finishing their conversation, but seeing the head coach and star player get into it a little bit, has fans worried.

Here is more on whether or not the Chiefs have cut Kelce after his confrontation with Reid.
Did the Chiefs cut Travis Kelce?
No, despite the confrontation during the game, Kansas City has not cut Kelce.
One reason is that, aside from it looking bad that the head coach bumped a player to get him to lock in, the confrontation didn’t escalate. The other is that Kelce is not only a staple of the offense, but has been with the Chiefs since 2013.
Barring some extreme outburst or legal issue, Kelce won’t be cut from the franchise, and if things escalated to the point that they wanted to cut him, he would likely save face and just retire.

This isn’t the first time that the two have butted heads during the game. Kelce shoved Reid during the 2024 Super Bowl after the Chiefs fumbled.

The star tight end likely wasn’t happy with the play calling, but his coach shrugged it off after the game, saying that he appreciated the emotion.
“He’s a passionate player and I love that. Even when he chest bumps me to the other side of the 50. He wants to play, he wants to be in there and he knows I love that. He makes me feel young.”
