The box contained two precious souls 🥺
Late one evening, volunteer rescuer Arturo Flores received a call for help that nearly catapulted him out of bed. The caller reported finding an adult poodle mix tied to a railing in the middle of a dark alleyway, and there was an open cardboard box next to her with two tiny souls left behind.
When Flores arrived at the scene moments later, his heart dropped. The poodle’s two little puppies, who’d been left in the box, were circling her as she lay defeated on the ground.
“[She] was tied so tightly to a railing that you couldn’t even slip two fingers under the leash around her neck,” Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, wrote on Facebook. “She just laid there, covered in fleas, defeated, waiting and waiting for someone who was never coming back.”

Thankfully, Flores reached the family just in time. He scooped the puppies up, then carefully freed their mom. He drove the little family straight to Camino Pet Hospital, where a loving veterinary team got a closer look at the pups’ conditions.
“Two little boys and their brave mama,” Hall wrote. “All three of them were crawling with fleas — so many, they were literally jumping off of them.”

The mama dog and her puppies were extremely uncomfortable when they first arrived at the clinic, but they soon received relieving baths and flea-removal treatments.
Before long, the mama dog and her pups were cleaned, free of pests and smiling like never before.
“Mama looks like a whole new dog,” Hall wrote. “Her spirit [is] slowly shining through.”

It didn’t take long for the mama dog, later named Infinity and Beyond, and her pups, Axel and Buzz, to find a loving foster home. As the weeks passed in foster care, Infinity and Beyond and her babies began to thrive.
Soon, Infinity and Beyond regained her puppy-like spirit and her sense of safety.
“[She’s] so beautiful, so strong and finally free from the pain of her past,” Hall wrote on Facebook. “All those long days and nights of lying in an alley protecting her babies are over.”

It’s been over a month since this fluffy family’s rescue, and they are doing better than ever. The puppies are slowly weaning off their mom and will soon be ready for adoption.
Hall is hopeful that all three pups will find loving forever homes soon. Until then, she’ll keep soaking up all the update videos she receives from their foster mom — a reminder of just how far they’ve come.
“From abandoned and forgotten to cherished and safe, this is the power of rescue, the power of second chances,” Hall wrote on Facebook. “This little family is proof that love heals.”
