At around 8 to 10 years old, Snow was a large dog reduced to a shadow of what she once was. Her ribs were painfully visible, her muscles wasted away, and her once-bright eyes were dull with fatigue.
She had no strength to lift her head, no reason to believe anyone would stop for her. Snow simply waited, silent and still, ready for the end.
How long she had suffered this way was impossible to know. The world moved on around her, indifferent to the quiet struggle of a dog left behind.
