The Kansas City Chiefs‘ 2025 season opener didn’t go as expected, falling 27-21 to the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil.

Sitting in last place in the AFC West, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes looks to turn things around against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2. Mahomes knows they need to give everything they’ve got to defeat the reigning Super Bowl champs.

Personally, Mahomes is looking to right some wrongs from the 40-22 defeat in New Orleans, including bringing the deep ball back. “I think you can’t be too much one way or another. And so, finding that right balance of attacking downfield but still keeping the chains moving and not putting the ball in harmful situations is something that’s important to every quarterback,” Mahomes told reporters on Wednesday.

“I think at the end of last year, at certain points, I wasn’t taking those chances that I could have. And so, I try to do better of that going into this season and try to do better at that, this last game.”

Cheering Mahomes on at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, September 14, were his wife, Brittany Mahomes, and the couple’s children. While their eldest kids, Sterling Skye, 4, and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon, 2, have attended numerous Chiefs games, the home opener marked baby Golden’s first regular-season matchup.

Brittany did not attend the Chiefs’ international season opener in São Paulo; however, she resumed her pregame ritual, giving Mahomes a good luck kiss on the sidelines on Sunday.

In her left arm, the couple’s newest addition, Golden, 8 months. Their youngest daughter wore pink headphones to protect her from the noise level. Brittany, who recently celebrated her 30th birthday with Taylor Swift, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s fiancée, loves bringing their kids to games.

Following the Chiefs’ rough start to the year, Mahomes and Kelce put the loss behind them to host the soft opening of their restaurant, 1587 Prime. Brittany brought all three kids to the friends and family event on September 8, and they spent time catching up with Swift.

TMZ reported, “At one point, Taylor held their baby and played with their kids. Our sources say guests and staff couldn’t stop talking about [Kelce and Swift], saying Taylor was funny, gracious, and approachable as she mingled with players and wives, making sure to greet everyone she passed.”
