Cy Young Winner Predicted To Cut Ties With Giants For $140 Million Deal With Red Sox Read more at: https://www.newsobserver.com/sports/article295671779.html#storylink=cpy

The San Francisco Giants are under the new leadership of Buster Posey this winter and they’re looking to turn their organization around to compete with the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. The Giants need to acquire more talent and bring in some stars this offseason to keep up with these two juggernauts. But the Giants may be fighting quite the uphill battle to improve upon last year. Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer recently predicted that the Giants would lose their ace this winter, projecting Snell to sign a four-year, $140 million contract with the Boston Red Sox.

“This long list of suitors is courtesy of (Mark) Feinsand and Katie Woo of The Athletic. And since Snell could sign for $100 million less than his rumored $240 million asking price from last winter, it might actually be too short,” Rymer wrote. “But to pick just one, Boston is a team to watch. Its rotation needs an ace, and it should suit them that A) Snell isn’t tied to draft compensation and B) he likely won’t need a long-term deal.” Rymer listed the Giants, Red Sox, New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays, and Texas Rangers as potential fits for the $140 million man.

It’ll be a very hot market for Snell now that the projections see him earning well below $150 million. Still, Snell’s market will change entirely when Yankees superstar Juan Soto signs. If the Red Sox, who had a great meeting with Soto this week, are able to sign Soto, they will be out on Snell. Still, Boston could use another ace on their staff ahead of current ace Tanner Houck.
