The Philadelphia Phillies’ amazing 2025 season has been full of memorable moments, many of which have been provided by Kyle Schwarber. The latest clutch swing in Schwarber’s dream season came in the Phillies’ 9-3 victory over the New York Mets which all but secured the franchise’s second straight NL East division title.
In the seventh inning, Schwarber smacked a three-run shot for his long-awaited 50th home run of the season, placing him in some rare Phillies company. His milestone was celebrated with a postgame clubhouse speech by manager Rob Thomson that’s sure to get Phillies fans fired up just in time for the postseason.
Rob Thomson’s toast to Kyle Schwarber will pump up Phillies fans everywhere
Citizens Bank Park’s home clubhouse looked like the place to be after the Phillies’ thrashing of the Mets, as Thomson decided to break out the champagne a little early for a small toast to a historic milestone.
Congratulations Kyle, you’ve had a hell of a year@kschwarb12 🥂 pic.twitter.com/qbdD0raUlX

That was awesome to see from the normally soft-spoken Thomson. Shouting out Bryson Stott for his 500th hit was a nice touch, too, and he didn’t even mention Ranger Suárez setting a career-high in strikeouts. There’s too much “good” going around the Phillies clubhouse these days to fit in one speech.
It’s easy to see how much Schwarber is beloved by his skipper and teammates and the “You’ve had an unbelievable year, and we’re not done yet” line might want to get some fans to run through a brick wall – and there are still over two weeks left before the playoffs start.
Schwarber, a pending free agent, is the type of humble leader that any World Series-caliber franchise would love to have on their team. Just ask the Chicago Cubs, who Schwarber famously won a championship with in 2016 when he returned for the World Series after suffering a gruesome ACL tear in April. The Cubs figure to have strong interest in bringing Schwarber back to the South Side this winter, and another former home in Boston could come calling, though the Phillies still remain the heavy favorites to retain his services. Tuesday showed you why. He’s integral to the program.
