There wasn’t a lot going on in the news when it came to the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. Instead, we got more quotes from Atlanta Braves President/General Manager Alex Anthopoulos, who gave us an idea of where the Braves might go during the offseason. The architect of the current Braves roster spoke with the media (via David O’Brien of The Athletic) earlier this week and declared that starting pitching will be a “point of emphasis” for the Braves when it comes to hopefully improving their squad during the offseason. I highly recommend picking up a subscription to The Athletic to check out good stuff like this but here’s the quote from AA:
…You can never have enough [pitching]. And it definitely will be a point of emphasis for us this winter.
Now again, we all know how much GM Speak is usually worth — which is to say that as exciting and logical as it sounds, it’s still safe to take this with a grain of salt. Still, it sure would be nice to see this team actually address the rotation after this season’s plan of “Let’s hope that everybody stays healthy while also continuing to perform at a high level” went awry. We’ll see what happens.

The Cubs evened up the series with the Braves in comfortable fashion, despite Spencer Strider delivering a solid performance where he went six innings and struck out eight while only giving up two runs.
AA also talked about Ha-Seong Kim joining the Braves and stated that both partiers “are in a better position” ahead of Kim’s big choice in the offseason as to whether or not he’ll exercise his player option.
ABsinceWayBack spent some time yesterday talking about how Bryce Elder is starting to get his insane HR/FB ratio a bit under control in recent times.

The Phillies are essentially starting to run away with the NL East after beating the Mets again. Oh, and Kyle Schawrber now has 50 dingers on the year. Great.

The Blue Jays pulled off a dramatic win in extras over the Astros with Tyler Heineman starting off the eventual walk-off at-bat trying to bunt and ending up hitting a grounder that allowed Tyler Straw to score the winning run.
Meanwhile, both the Mariners and the Rangers are starting to breathe down the Astros’ necks for the lead in the AL West.
The Tigers and Yankees played a close one — well, until Detroit plated nine in the seventh inning. Obviously it got out of hand at that point.
