Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made a ton of headlines for this franchise during the offseason with the way he was handling contract talks with Micah Parsons. The Cowboys traded away Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first round picks one week before the regular season.
Well during the offseason, Jones also spoke to the media about the way he was handling contract talks with Parsons. The Cowboys owner revealed on Tuesday during a radio appearance with 105.3 the fan in Dallas, Texas about if he was fined or not with the way he handled contract talks with Parsons.
Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Reveals He Was Not Fined by the NFL
Joseph Hoyt, a Cowboys beat reporter for the Dallas news, covered what the Cowboys owner had to say on 105.3 the fan on Tuesday. Jones was asked whether his negotiation tactics could be a NFLPA violation. The Cowboys owner responded,
“There is no violation. Period. I have all the authority in the world and the player has all the authority in the world to negotiate with me. There is no equivocation there.”
Not only is Jerry the general manager for Dallas, but he is also the owner. Jones was also asked if he was fined for how he negotiated with Micah Parsons and without David Mulugheta. Jones said,
“I will 100x the fine or the penalty if I were ever assessed with Micah relative to the communication … I’ll 100 times it and give it to the Salvation Army.”
In other words, the Cowboys owner was not fined for the way he handled contract talks with Parsons before he was traded to the Packers. If Jones has not been fined by now by the NFL for the way he handled those talks, he is probably not going to be fined at all for his actions.
