As soon as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement in August, the hunt for details was on. Where would the wedding be? Who’s on the guest list? Will all three Haims be bridesmaids, or will Swift pick her favorite? While it seems that we’re still a ways away from Swift and Kelce actually saying “I do,” we do have a bit of information about what exactly their nuptials may entail. The happy couple are reportedly going for a casual vibe instead of Bezos-level opulence and attention. What could that possibly mean for these two, who have never really been casual about anything? Well, here’s everything we know so far.
Probably not anytime soon. If the Chiefs continue being good at football (TBD), Kelce will be tied up with work until February. Swift is releasing The Life of a Showgirl in October, which means it’s possible she could be heading back out on tour next year. Basically, I think it’s safe to say that these two are pretty busy right now and we shouldn’t expect a wedding any sooner than next spring. In August, a source told People that the couple hadn’t even thought about wedding planning yet.
“Taylor and Travis have been in celebration mode ever since the engagement,” the source told the tabloid. “They are not in the wedding planning phase yet … Right now they just want to enjoy being engaged and they are going to take their time with it.”
Okay, so despite that one person saying that Swift and Kelce are taking their time, someone else is saying that they’ve done some planning. A source told “Page Six” that the couple already know where they’re going to tie the knot. “They are getting married next summer in Rhode Island,” the source declared. Swift famously owns a home on the Rhode Island coast, where she has been known to throw quite the Fourth of July party.
Obviously, nothing is confirmed yet, so there are still lots of other options on the table. The couple have a lot of ties to Kansas City, and they were reportedly looking at property near Kelce’s Ohio hometown recently. It’s entirely possible that Swift gets married in the Midwest. You know what they say — KCMO is the Venice of Missouri!
If I were a betting woman, I’d be putting my money on Montana. Swift and Kelce really took a liking to a members-only club in Big Sky this year, where they were able to vacation without anyone taking any photos of them. That level of privacy is probably appealing when planning the most talked-about wedding of the decade. But who knows? Maybe they’ll be chic about it and elope at City Hall in Manhattan.
People reports that the wedding is going to be an intimate event. “It will definitely be a private affair and not a spectacle,” a source told the tabloid on Tuesday. (Another reason for Montana … just saying.) The source added, “They both have a close circle of friends, and they’ll respect their privacy.”
This has been the party line since Swift and Kelce got engaged. Just a day after the couple announced their engagement — so take it with a grain of salt — a source told “Page Six” that the wedding would be “more casual than people think.” Does that mean a quick ceremony and then burgers and dogs on the grill? Or does that just mean the dress code is cocktail instead of black tie?
When I think of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, “casual” and “not a spectacle” are not the first words that come to mind. He went onstage at the Eras Tour! She announced her new album on his football podcast! These are not exactly two chillers who would be happy getting hitched whenever a venue can squeeze them in. This is a couple that loves brand synergy just as much as they love each other. They did not have to post their engagement photo shoot, but they did because it seems like they really do enjoy being a public-facing couple. Do we actually think their wedding is going to be a casual, intimate affair? Not even a Vogue spread? Let’s regroup in a year and see how this all holds up.
