POV: You’ve finished America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and now you’re in an ennui spiral. Truly, what is life without listening to “Thunderstruck” on repeat? The solution? (1) buying yourself a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders outfit online, and (2) investigating whether or not the show will come back for season 2. On that note, here’s what we’ve sleuthed out about the latter due to having absolutely no chill/making this show our entire personality.
Season 2 Is Officially Coming!
Good news: a second season of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders is happening! The streaming giant posted a teaser on their social media channels on November 11, and when I tell you I need this immediately…
DCC SEASON TWO WOO! The cheerleaders and the routine that captivated the world are coming back for Season 2!

Of Course, The Doc Team Was Down
In June 2024, Variety asked director Greg Whiteley if he’d do another season, and this was his response. Ahem!
“Our last two or three weeks of filming, we were just starting to hit our stride. Part of it is the stakes are higher when you’re at a place like The Star, where it is the most financially lucrative, valuable sports franchise in all the world. They have plenty at stake and that breeds a certain culture that’s very buttoned down and can sometimes bump up against a documentary film crew trying to pierce that. I felt like we were just starting to get there as we were wrapping up, and I’d love to have more time to see if we can get deeper and deeper with more and more of the team.”
So, taking that as a yes?
The Cast Was Also Down
TV host Andrew Freund referred to the cast as “the baddest bitches in Texas” during a recent interview, and in response Kelli made a cryptic side comment about “season 2.” Watch below/read into things!
Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboy’s website released a statement on June 20 saying, “While plans are currently undetermined for a second season, the Dallas Cowboys are excited to see the response from the world in the early stages of the show’s release in anticipation of hopefully signing on for more seasons.”
So, When Is Season 2 Filming?
Here’s the thing: if Netflix planned to catch up with the DCC for the 2024 season, they probably started filming over the summer. The team started Training Camp a few months ago. and several familiar faces likely tried out again.
It’s also possible that the filmmakers may have to wait a year and catch the team during the 2025 season..which I’d find extremely upsetting, so let’s move on before I feel the need to take this to change.org.
Who Would Return for Season 2?
If America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders returns for a second season, it would presumably star everyone from last season, including some dancers and rookies who were booted! Turns out both Charly and Kelly came through on their promise to make a comeback and are both rookies during Training Camp 2024.
A little more uncertain? Whether or not fan favorite Kelcey Wetterberg will return for the documentary considering she retired after her fifth season in 2023. It’s also unclear if the show would continue to follow Victoria Kalin, who quit the team ahead of her fifth season and revealed she’s moving to New York City to audition for the Rockettes!
We’ll keep you updated about season 2 as news breaks, but keep your fingers and pom-poms crossed! And meanwhile….
